Beginning his professional journey at Olhanense in 1992, Conceição quickly attracted the attention of larger clubs and soon moved to S.C. Braga in 1994. His breakthrough came when he joined the famed Portuguese club, Sporting CP, where he played from 1996 until 1999. During his time at Sporting, he made a significant impact, showcasing his talents as a winger. His most memorable moment in the green and white stripes came during the 1998–99 season when he contributed decisively to Sporting’s success in the Taça de Portugal.

Conceição’s career continued on an upward trajectory as he moved to Italy, signing with Salernitana in 1999, followed by a notable stint at Udinese.
